During the early development of Tatarrax Hills, street lights and an irrigation system were installed at the upper (north) entrance to the subdivision. While this property has been constantly maintained by the homeowners association, it is not within the platted subdivision. The property was the original east boundary of the Washington Marlatt Park which Kansas State University received from the Marlatt Family in 1940. When Seth Child Road was developed, it bisected the park and this strip of land remained in the ownership of KSU until 2017. In 2021, the new owners granted to the Tatarrax Hills Homeowners Association a permanent easement of the area which the HOA has maintained for more than 30 years.
